Horror Hotel Xenodochio

A school project where we had to create a concept for a unique hotel. Our group, inspired by horror games, designed a fictional horror hotel with branding, media, and a cinematic trailer.

Horror Concept

About the project

We asked ourselves: what if Phasmophobia took place inside a hotel? That question became the base of our concept.

Process

Inspired by games like Phasmophobia and series like Stranger Things, we created a horror hotel where the atmosphere completely changes between day and night.

At night the hotel turns terrifying: players must complete tasks while surrounded by strange sounds and unsettling visuals. During the day everything seems calm, creating a sharp contrast that makes the horror hit harder.

We created props and environments in Blender, and when AI image filters were still new, we experimented with AI to give the trailer a surreal, illustrated look. This mix of 3D and AI resulted in a unique visual identity.

Media & Deliverables

The assignment required us to design a complete media package to promote the hotel.

We created a logo, posters, a storyboard, a podcast, stickers, and a banner. The centerpiece was the trailer, which combined Blender renders and AI to bring the horror mood to life.

Challenges & Solutions

The challenge was blending horror atmosphere with promotional design.

We solved this by leaning into contrast: friendly daytime branding vs. eerie nighttime visuals. This duality kept the concept believable while still unsettling.

Result & Reflection

The project became a unique experiment in horror design.

Horror Hotel Xenodochio taught us how to mix 3D, AI, and media design into one consistent concept. It was fun to turn a “what if” idea into a full fictional brand, and the project showed how far atmosphere and storytelling can go in worldbuilding.
